Introduction :

This combination of Amlodipine 5 Mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 Mg medication is commonly prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It is used to help lower blood pressure levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke in individuals with hypertension.

Indication :

Amlodipine 5mg and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg are both antihypertensive medications used to manage hypertension, a condition characterized by elevated blood pressure levels. By acting through different mechanisms to lower blood pressure. In some cases, this combination may be prescribed to individuals with congestive heart failure (CHF) who develop fluid retention (edema) due to the condition. Hydrochlorothiazide, as a diuretic, helps reduce fluid buildup by increasing urine production, while amlodipine helps relax blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing the workload on the heart.

Administration :

The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and should not be chewed, crushed, or broken. The usual dosage of Amlodipine 5 mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg is one tablet taken orally once daily, with or without food, as directed by the healthcare provider.

Side Effects :

Common side effects of amlodipine may include peripheral edema (swelling of the ankles or feet), headache, dizziness, and flushing. Common side effects of hydrochlorothiazide may include electrolyte imbalances (such as low potassium levels), dizziness, nausea, and increased urination.

Safety Advice / Warnings :

Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting may also occur, especially when you get up suddenly from a lying or sitting position. If you feel dizzy, lie down so you do not faint. Then sit for a few moments before standing to prevent the dizziness from returning. If you faint, call your doctor right away. Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting may also occur if you exercise or if the weather is hot. Heavy sweating can cause loss of too much water and result in low blood pressure. Use extra care during exercise or hot weather. Check with your doctor right away if you or your child have pain or tenderness in the upper stomach, pale stools, dark urine, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, or yellow eyes or skin. These could be symptoms of a serious liver problem. If you have been using this medicine regularly for several weeks, do not suddenly stop using it. Stopping suddenly may cause your chest pain or high blood pressure to come back or get worse. Avoid consumption of alcohol strictkly

Mechanism of Action :
