Introduction :

Vildagliptin 50 Mg + Metformin Hydrochloride 850 Mg tablet is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in adults who have not achieved adequate glycemic control with metformin alone or who are already taking vildagliptin and metformin separately. This helps prevent serious complications of diabetes such as kidney damage and blindness and may also reduce your chances of having a heart attack or stroke. Vildagliptin 50 Mg + Metformin Hydrochloride 850 Mg tablet is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults as monotherapy or in combination with insulin.

Indication :

Vildagliptin 50 mg: Vildagliptin is an oral antidiabetic medication that belongs to the class of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. It helps lower blood sugar levels by inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4, which degrades incretin hormones that regulate insulin secretion. Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg: Metformin is a biguanide antidiabetic drug that reduces glucose production in the liver, increases insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, and improves glucose uptake by muscles.

Administration :

It is typically taken orally twice daily with meals or as directed by a healthcare professional. While taking the extended-release tablet, part of the tablet may pass into your stool after your body has absorbed the medicine. This is normal and nothing to worry about.

Storage :

Store the medication at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.

Evidence has demonstrated fetal abnormalities or risks when used during pregnancy. Advise women of childbearing potential of fetal risk.

Mechanism of Action :

Vildagliptin increases insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner by inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4, which leads to improved glycemic control. Metformin primarily works by reducing hepatic glucose production, enhancing insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, and improving glucose uptake by muscles, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
