LIGNO GEL Topical lidocaine preparations such as creams, gels, or sprays are commonly used to relieve pain, irritation, or discomfort of the skin and mucous membranes. Lidocaine 2% may be used for: Relief of pain from minor skin injuries, Local anesthesia before minor medical procedures, Pain associated with mouth ulcers or sore gums, Painful skin conditions.

Use as directed by a physician. Apply a small amount to the affected area. Avoid applying on large areas unless advised by a doctor. Wash hands before and after application.

Store in a cool, dry place below 25–30°C. Protect from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Use with caution in: Severely damaged skin Large application areas Infants and young children

Warn patient to avoid exposing application site to direct external heat source and to avoid getting the patch wet Advise patient to avoid drug contact with eyes and to wash hands after handling the patch. Instruct patient on proper storage and disposal instructions to avoid access by children or pets. Counsel patient who develops skin reaction to remove patch and not to reapply until skin reaction subsides. Do not use excessive amounts. Prolonged use should be avoided without medical advice.

Lidocaine is an amide local anesthetic and is suggested to stabilize neuronal membranes by inhibiting the ionic fluxes required for the initiation and conduction of neuronal impulses. This results in local anesthesia after topical application. Local anesthetics may also have similar effects on excitable membranes in the brain and myocardium. The penetration of lidocaine through intact skin will produce an analgesic effect but is not sufficient to produce complete sensory block.
