PANTOPRAZOLE 40 + DOMPERIDONE (PR) 30 MG

Introduction :

Pantoprazole 40mg + Domperidone 30mg SR (sustained release) capsule is commonly indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and dyspepsia associated with gastric acid reflux. Pantoprazole 40mg + Domperidone 30mg SR (sustained release) may be used in the management of peptic ulcers, including gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. Pantoprazole helps promote ulcer healing by suppressing gastric acid secretion, while Domperidone helps alleviate symptoms such as nausea and bloating.

Indication :

Pantoprazole 40mg + Domperidone 30mg SR (sustained release) capsule is often prescribed for the treatment of gastric discomfort, a condition characterized by the reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus, leading to symptoms such as heartburn and discomfort. Pantoprazole helps reduce stomach acid production, while Domperidone helps relieve symptoms of nausea and vomiting associated with Gastric disease. This medication combination may be prescribed for the management of dyspepsia, a common digestive disorder characterized by symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and discomfort. Pantoprazole helps reduce gastric acid secretion, while Domperidone helps improve gastric motility and alleviate symptoms of indigestion.

Administration :

It is typically taken orally, usually before meals or as directed by a healthcare professional. "Should be taken at least 30 minutes before meals. (Delayed-release tablets / Sustained release tablets) Swallow tablets whole, do not split, crush, or chew"

Storage :

Store the medication at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.

Mechanism of Action :

Pantoprazole 40 mg: Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the production of stomach acid by inhibiting the proton pump in gastric parietal cells. Domperidone (SR) 30 mg: Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist that acts on the chemoreceptor trigger zone in the brain and the upper gastrointestinal tract to increase gastric emptying and reduce nausea and vomiting.

Therapeutic :

Gastric Acid Secretion Inhibitor

Side Effects :

Headache Dizziness Gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, constipation, or abdominal discomfort Dry mouth Fatigue

Contraindications :

Avoid use of this drug during pregnancy and prescribe an alternative. Evidence has demonstrated fetal abnormalities or risks when used during pregnancy. Evidence and/or expert consensus has demonstrated harmful infant effects when used during breastfeeding.

Safety Advice / Warnings :

"Taking this medicine for a long time may make it harder for your and your childs body to absorb vitamin B12. Tell your doctor if you have concerns about this. Long-term use of proton pump inhibitors such as pantoprazole may be associated with an increased risk of bone fractures, Clostridium difficile infection, and vitamin B12 deficiency. Pantoprazole + Domperidone should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver disease, as domperidone metabolism primarily occurs in the liver, and dose adjustments may be necessary.
