ESOMEPRAZOLE 40 + DOMPERIDONE 30 MG SR

Introduction :

Esomeprazole 40mg is used to treat conditions where there is too much acid in the stomach. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by decreasing the amount of acid that is produced by the stomach.Domperidone30mg SR is a medicine that increases the movements or contractions of the stomach and bowel. Domperidone is also used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by other drugs used to treat Parkinsons Disease. This medicine is available both over-the-counter (OTC) and with your doctor?s prescription. The inclusion of "SR" indicates that the formulation is designed for sustained release, meaning the medication is released slowly over time, offering a prolonged therapeutic effect and potentially reducing the frequency of dosing. To use the capsule: Swallow the capsule whole. Do not crush or chew it. If the capsule cannot be swallowed, open it and sprinkle the contents on one tablespoonful of applesauce. Swallow the mixture right away. Do not chew or crush the granules.

Indication :

Esomeprazole 40 mg + Domperidone 30 mg SR (Sustained Release) is a combination medication that typically consists of two active ingredients: esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and domperidone, a dopamine receptor antagonist. This combination is often prescribed for the treatment of certain gastrointestinal conditions. Esomeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers. Domperidone is a medicine that increases the movements or contractions of the stomach and bowel. Domperidone is also used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by other drugs used to treat Parkinsons Disease. Domperidone is to be given only by or under the immediate supervision of your doctor.

Administration :

Take this medicine at least 1 hour before a meal and for the full time of treatment, even if you begin to feel better after a few days.

Storage :

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light

Mechanism of Action :

Esomeprazole magnesium, a proton pump inhibitor, blocks the final step in acid production by specific inhibition of the H(+)/K(+)-ATPase in the gastric parietal cell, thus suppressing gastric acid secretion Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist that does not cross the blood brain barrier. Its antiemetic activity may be related to its ability to increase lower esophageal pressure, improve antroduodenal motility, and speed gastric emptying. Antiemetic activity may also be related to dopamine receptor antagonism at the chemoreceptor trigger zone located in the area postrema, which is outside the blood brain barrier
