METOPROLOL TARTRATE 25 MG + RAMIPRIL 2.5 MG
Introduction : Metoprolol Tartrate 25 Mg + Ramipril 2.5 Mg tablet is commonly prescribed for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure) and certain heart conditions in adults. It combines two different classes of medications: a beta-blocker (metoprolol succinate) and an ACE inhibitor (ramipril), to help control blood pressure and improve heart function.
The importance of sustained-release (SR) formulations lies in their ability to provide a controlled release of medication over an extended period, SR formulations release the medication gradually into the bloodstream over an extended period, leading to more consistent blood levels throughout the day. This can result in smoother effects and a reduced risk of fluctuations.
Indication : This combination medication is primarily prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults. It helps to lower blood pressure by reducing the heart rate and dilating blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow and reducing the workload on the heart.
In some cases, Metoprolol Tartrate 25 Mg + Ramipril 2.5 Mg tablet may also be used for the management of heart failure. Both metoprolol succinate and ramipril have been shown to improve outcomes in patients with heart failure by reducing symptoms, preventing disease progression, and improving survival.
Administration : It is typically taken orally once daily, with or without food.
Swallow the extended-release capsule or tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, break, or chew it.
Storage : store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Side Effects : Common side effects of this medication combination may include dizziness, fatigue, headache, dry cough (associated with ramipril), nausea, diarrhea, and low blood pressure.
Less common but more serious side effects may include electrolyte disturbances, kidney problems, and allergic reactions.
Contraindications : Using this medicine while you are pregnant can harm your unborn baby. ,If you think you have become pregnant while using this medicine, tell your doctor right away.
Safety Advice / Warnings : Patients should not abruptly stop taking this medication without consulting their healthcare provider, as sudden discontinuation may lead to rebound hypertension or other complications.
This medicine may cause some people to become less alert than they are normally. If this side effect occurs, do not drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert while taking metoprolol
Dizziness, lightheadedness, or even fainting may occur when you get up suddenly from a lying or sitting position. Getting up slowly may help lessen this problem. Also, lying down for a while may relieve the dizziness or lightheadedness.
Patient should avoid using potassium-containing supplements or salts while taking this drug
