ROSUVASTATIN 10 MG is used together with a proper diet to lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides (fats) in the blood, and to increase your good cholesterol (HDL). ROSUVASTATIN 10 MG may help prevent or slow down medical problems, like atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), that are caused by fats clogging the blood vessels. ROSUVASTATIN 10 MG belongs to a group of medicines called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, or statins. Mechanism of Action :

Rosuvastatin is an inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase. This is the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor of cholesterol. Inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase by rosuvastatin accelerates the expression of LDL-receptors, followed by the uptake of LDL-C from blood to the liver, leading to a decrease in plasma LDL-C and total cholesterol. Sustained inhibition of cholesterol synthesis in the liver also decreases levels of very low density lipoproteins
