DAPAGLIFLOZIN 5 MG
Introduction : Dapagliflozin 5mg tablet is used together with proper diet and exercise to treat type 2 diabetes. It works in the kidneys to prevent absorption of glucose (blood sugar). This helps lower the blood sugar level. Dapagliflozin does not help patients who have insulin-dependent or type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetic patients must use insulin injections.
Dapagliflozin 5mg tablet is also used to lower the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in patients with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular (heart or blood vessel) disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors. This medicine is also used to lower the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent heart failure visit in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (the heart is weak and cannot pump enough blood to the rest of the body).
Dapagliflozin 5mg tablet is also used to lower the risk of worsening of kidney disease, end stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization for heart failure in patients with chronic kidney disease.
This medicine is available only with your doctors prescription.
Indication : Dapagliflozin 5mg tablet, a medication belonging to the class of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, is primarily indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Dapagliflozin 5mg tablet is prescribed to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is often used in combination with diet and exercise.
In addition to its glucose-lowering effects, dapagliflozin has shown cardiovascular benefits in certain patient populations. Some clinical trials suggest a reduction in cardiovascular events in individuals with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.
Administration : You may take this medicine with or without food.
Storage : Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
Mechanism of Action : Dapagliflozin inhibits sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2), thereby reducing reabsorption of filtered glucose and promoting urinary glucose excretion. Decreased sodium reabsorption and increased delivery of sodium to the distal tubule also occur. Several physiological functions may be influenced, including decreased intraglomerular pressure (believed to be mediated by increased tubuloglomerular feedback) and lowering of both pre- and afterload of the heart and downregulation of sympathetic activity
