Gliclazide 60 Mg Sr

Gliclazide 60mg SR (sustained release) tablet is a medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It belongs to a group of medicines called sulfonylureas and helps control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. This helps to prevent serious complications of diabetes like kidney damage and blindness.

Tablets are for oral use. Take your tablet(s) with a glass of water (and preferably at the same time each day). Swallow the tablet or extended-release tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush, break, or chew it. While taking the extended-release tablet, part of the tablet may pass into your stool after your body has absorbed the medicine. This is normal and nothing to worry about. The typical dosage of Gliclazide 60mg SR (sustained release) tablet may vary based on individual patient factors such as glycemic control, renal function, and response to treatment. It is usually taken orally once daily with breakfast or as directed by a healthcare professional.

Do not take these Tablets if you: • are allergic to Gliclazide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, to other medicines of the same group (sulfonylureas), to other related medicines (hypoglycaemic sulphonamides) • have insulin-dependent diabetes (type 1) • suffer from severe kidney or liver disease • have ketone bodies and sugar in your urine (this may mean you have keto-acidosis) • suffer from a diabetic pre-coma and coma • are taking miconazole (a treatment for fungal infections) (see section • are breast-feeding (see Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility).

Gliclazide ER should be used with caution in elderly patients, as they may be more susceptible to hypoglycemia and other adverse effects. Patients should be advised to avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking Gliclazide ER, as alcohol may potentiate the risk of hypoglycemia. It's essential for patients to adhere to a regular meal schedule and monitor blood sugar levels closely while taking Gliclazide ER to minimize the risk of hypoglycemia.
