LINAGLIPTIN 5 MG

Below are the product's comprehensive details, including its indications, administration, storage, side effects, safety advice, references, mechanism of action, and therapeutic uses.

Linagliptin 5mg tablet is used with a proper diet and exercise program and possibly with other medications to control high blood sugar. It is used by people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke Linagliptin is a diabetes drug that works by increasing levels of natural substances called incretins. Incretins help to control blood sugar by increasing insulin release, especially after a meal. They also decrease the amount of sugar your liver makes.

You may take this medicine with or without food. Carefully follow the special meal plan your doctor gave you. This is the most important part of controlling your diabetes, and is necessary if the medicine is to work properly. Exercise regularly and test for sugar in your blood or urine as directed.

Store the medicine at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

Anxiety, blurred vision, chills, cold sweats, confusion, depression, dizziness, fast heartbeat, headache, increased hunger, loss of consciousness, nightmares, seizures, shakiness, slurred speech, unusual tiredness or weakness.

Avoid use of this drug during pregnancy Evidence has demonstrated fetal abnormalities or risks when used during pregnancy. Evidence has demonstrated harmful infant effects when used during breastfeeding.

Pancreatitis may occur while you are using this medicine. Check with your doctor right away if you have a sudden and severe stomach pain, chills, constipation, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, or lightheadedness. This medicine may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). This is more common when this medicine is taken together with certain medicines. Low blood sugar must be treated before it causes you to pass out (unconsciousness). Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) may occur if you do not take enough or skip a dose of your medicine, overeat or do not follow your meal plan, have a fever or infection, or do not exercise as much as usual. Alcohol—Drinking alcohol may cause severe low blood sugar. Discuss this with your health care team. This medicine may cause severe and disabling joint pain. Call your doctor right away if you have severe joint pain while using this medicine.

Linagliptin inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), which is responsible for the rapid breakdown of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By inhibiting DPP-4, linagliptin prolongs the action of these incretins, leading to increased insulin secretion and decreased glucagon release, which helps lower blood sugar levels.
