AMLODIPINE 5 MG + LOSARTAN POTASSIUM 50 MG + HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 12.5 MG

Introduction :

Amlodipine 5mg, Losartan 50mg and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg tablet is a combination of medicines that may be used alone or with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. Lowering blood pressure can reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes the blood vessels to tighten. Olmesartan relaxes the blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. A lower blood pressure will increase the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It affects the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. Amlodipine relaxes the blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill). It reduces the amount of water in the body by increasing the flow of urine. This helps lower blood pressure. This medicine is available only with your doctors prescription.

Mechanism of Action :

Amlodipine: It is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells, resulting in vasodilation and a reduction in peripheral vascular resistance, thereby lowering blood pressure. Losartan Potassium: It is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to its receptors, leading to vasodilation and decreased aldosterone secretion, resulting in decreased blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide: It is a thiazide diuretic that promotes diuresis by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the kidneys, leading to decreased blood volume and subsequent reduction in blood pressure.

Therapeutic :

Anti hyperntiensive
