If high blood pressure is not treated, it can cause serious problems such as heart failure, blood vessel disease, stroke, or kidney disease.

Propranolol will add to the effects of alcohol and other central nervous system (CNS) depressants. CNS depressants are medicines that slow down the nervous system and may cause drowsiness This medicine may cause erectile dysfunction in some males. Check with your doctor right away if you have decreased interest in sexual intercourse, inability to have or keep an erection or loss in sexual ability, drive, or performance. If you have questions about this, talk to your doctor. Warn patient to avoid activities requiring mental alertness or coordination until drug effects are realized, as drug may cause excessive somnolence and impaired cognition Advise diabetic patient to carefully monitor blood glucose as drug may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia Counsel patient against sudden discontinuation of drug, as this may precipitate heart related problems.
