Mechanism of Sevelamer Carbonate 400 Mg Tablet
Sevelamer Carbonate is a non-absorbed phosphate-binding polymer. It binds dietary phosphate within the gastrointestinal tract, forming an insoluble complex that is excreted in the feces. This reduces phosphate absorption into the bloodstream, lowers serum phosphate levels, and helps prevent complications such as renal bone disease and vascular calcification in patients with chronic kidney disease.
