RANOLAZINE SR 500 MG
Introduction : Ranolazine 500mg SR (sustained release) tablet is used to treat chronic angina (chest pain). This medicine is usually used together with other medicines (eg, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers, nitrates, antiplatelets, or lipid-lowering medicines).
This medicine is available only with your doctors prescription.
Indication : Ranolazine 500mg SR (sustained release) tablet is used for the management of angina (heart-related chest pain). It helps to prevent new attacks of angina but does not stop an acute attack, once started. It relieves chest pain by making the heart work more efficiently.
Administration : You may take this medicine with or without food.
Swallow the extended-release tablet and extended-release granules whole. Do not crush, break, or chew it.
The dose of this medicine will be different for different patients. Follow your doctors orders or the directions on the label.
Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while you are using this medicine.
Avoid drinking alcohol while you are using the extended-release granules.
Storage : Store the medication at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

Mechanism of Action : Ranolazine is a selective inhibitor of the late inward sodium current in cardiomyocytes. By reducing this current during ischemia, ranolazine helps to stabilize myocardial cell membrane potential and intracellular calcium levels, thereby improving myocardial relaxation and decreasing oxygen demand. This mechanism contributes to the antianginal effects of ranolazine.

Contraindications : Evidence has demonstrated harmful infant effects when used during Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
