CILOSTAZOL 50 MG
Introduction : Cilostazol 50mg Tablet is used to improve the symptoms of a certain blood flow problem in the legs (intermittent claudication).
Cilostazol 50mg can decrease the muscle pain/cramps that occur during exercise/walking. Claudication pain is caused by too little oxygen getting to the muscles.
Cilostazol 50mg can increase blood flow and the amount of oxygen that gets to the muscles.
Cilostazol 50mg is an antiplatelet drug and a vasodilator. It works by stopping blood cells called platelets from sticking together and prevents them from forming harmful clots. It also widens blood vessels in the legs.
Cilostazol 50mg helps the blood to move more easily and keeps blood flowing smoothly in your body. Claudication is pain you feel when your leg muscles don?t get enough blood while you exercise. It?s also known as intermittent claudication.
Indication : Cilostazol 50mgmg improves the flow of blood through the blood vessels. It is used to reduce leg pain caused by poor circulation (intermittent claudication). Cilostazol 50mg tablet makes it possible to walk farther before having to rest because of leg pain.
This medicine works by keeping blood from clotting and by dilating or relaxing the blood vessels.
This medicine is available only with your doctors prescription.
Administration : Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.
Take this medicine at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after a meal.
Your leg pain may not get better right away. It may take 2 weeks or more before you have improvement and up to 12 weeks for the full effect.
Storage : Cilostazol tablets should be stored at room temperature, 25 degrees Celsius
Side Effects : Back pain; dizziness; gas; headache; increased cough; pain or stiffness in the muscles
Safety Advice / Warnings : Cilostazol 50mg can temporarily lower the number of white blood cells in your blood, increasing the chance of getting an infection. It can also lower the number of platelets, which are necessary for proper blood clotting. If this occurs, there are certain precautions you can take, especially when your blood count is low, to reduce the risk of infection or bleeding:
Smoking tobacco products, such as cigarettes, may worsen your condition. It contains nicotine which may further narrow blood vessels and may also affect how this medicine works. Therefore, it is best to avoid smoking.

Mechanism of Action : Cilostazol and its active metabolites inhibit phosphodiesterase activity and suppress degradation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) resulting in an increase in cAMP in platelets and blood vessels. It reversibly inhibits platelet aggregation induced by various stimuli, including thrombin, adenosine diphosphate (ADP), collagen, arachidonic acid, epinephrine, and shear stress. Cilostazol produces non-homogenous vasodilation, with greater dilation in femoral beds than in vertebral, carotic, or superior mesenteric arteries, but without effect in renal arteries.
