Mechanism of Abacavir + Lamivudine Tablet
Abacavir and Lamivudine are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). After intracellular activation, they inhibit the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme by acting as nucleoside analogues, causing premature termination of viral DNA synthesis. This prevents HIV replication and reduces viral load.
