Ramipril 2.5 Mg

Ramipril 2.5mg tablet/capsule is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Ramipril is also used to improve survival after a heart attack. It may also be used in high risk patients (such as patients with heart disease/diabetes) to help prevent heart attacks and strokes. Ramipril 2.5mg tablet/capsule may also be used to treat heart failure in patients who have had a recent heart attack. Ramipril 2.5mg tablet/capsule is an ACE inhibitor and works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily.

Swallow the extended release tablet whole. Do not break, crush, or chew it. It is best to take this tablet on an empty stomach. If you are taking the extended-release tablets, part of the tablet may pass into your stool after your body has absorbed the medicine. This is normal and nothing to worry about. Do not crush, chew, or divide extended-release tablet

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep out of the reach of children.

Ramipril 2.5mg tablet/capsule may cause nausea, vomiting, persistent cough, and fatigue.

Avoid use of this drug during pregnancy and prescribe an alternative. Evidence has demonstrated fetal abnormalities or risks when used during pregnancy. Evidence and/or expert consensus has demonstrated harmful infant effects when used during breastfeeding.

Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting may occur especially when you get up from a lying or sitting position Hyperkalemia (high potassium in the blood) may occur while you are using this medicine. Check with your doctor right away if you have the following symptoms: abdominal or stomach pain, confusion, difficulty with breathing, irregular heartbeat, nausea or vomiting, nervousness, numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips, shortness of breath, or weakness or heaviness of the legs Using this medicine while you are pregnant can harm your unborn baby. ,If you think you have become pregnant while using this medicine, tell your doctor right away. Patient should avoid activities requiring mental alertness or coordination until drug effects are realized, as drug may cause dizziness. Advise patient to rise slowly from a sitting or lying position. Patient should avoid using potassium-containing supplements or salts while taking this drug.
