OMEPRAZOLE 20 MG capsules is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. This medication relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and cough. It helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. In addition, omeprazole is used to prevent upper gastrointestinal tract bleeding in seriously ill patients. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by decreasing the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
How To Use of Omeprazole 20 Mg Capsule
Should be taken at least 30 minutes before meals. (Delayed-release tablets) Swallow tablets whole, do not split, crush, or chew.

Mechanism of Omeprazole 20 Mg Capsule
Omeprazole is a selective and irreversible [30] proton pump inhibitor. Omeprazole suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the hydrogen–potassium adenosinetriphosphatase (H +, K +-ATPase) enzyme system found at the secretory surface of parietal cells . It inhibits the final transport of hydrogen ions (via exchange with potassium ions) into the gastric lumen. Since the H +, K +-ATPase enzyme system is regarded as the acid (proton) pump of the gastric mucosa, omeprazole is known as a gastric acid pump inhibitor.
