Amoxicillin 250mg is prescribed for the treatment of: Ear infections (otitis media) Sinusitis Throat infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis) Lower respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia) Urinary tract infections Skin and soft tissue infections Dental infections Typhoid fever (as per sensitivity) Part of combination therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection Other infections caused by susceptible bacteria Use only when prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional.

You may take this medicine with or without food. However, it is best to take this medicine at the start of a meal or snack to avoid an upset stomach. Swallow the extended-release tablet whole. Do not crush or chew it. Adults and children weighing 40 kilograms (kg) or more—250 to 500 milligrams (mg) every 8 hours, or 500 to 875 mg every 12 hours. The dose of this medicine will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of this medicine. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so. Complete the full course, even if you feel better, to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Keep out of the reach of children. Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Ask your healthcare professional how you should dispose of any medicine you do not use. Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep from freezing. You may store the oral liquid in the refrigerator. Throw away any unused medicine after 14 days. Do not freeze.

Serious hypersensitivity reactions, such as anaphylaxis and Stevens-Johnson syndrome, to amoxicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics (eg, penicillins, cephalosporins)

Keep using this medicine for the full treatment time, even if you feel better after the first few doses. Your infection may not clear up if you stop using the medicine too soon. Birth control pills may not work while you are using this medicine In some young patients, tooth discoloration may occur while using this medicine. The teeth may appear to have brown, yellow, or gray stains.
