CETIRIZINE 10 MG
Introduction : Cetirizine 10 mg tablet is is used to treat adults with hives, itching, or redness of the skin.
Cetirizine is an antihistamine that works by preventing the effects of a substance called histamine, which is produced by the body. Histamine can cause itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. It can close up the bronchial tubes (air passages of the lungs) and make breathing difficult.
Indication : Cetirizine 10mg tablet is used to treat cold or allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, or runny nose.
Cetirizine 10mg tablet is also used to treat an allergic reaction, itching and swelling caused by chronic urticaria (hives) and minimizes or eliminates the symptoms of perennial allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, allergic asthma, physical urticaria, and atopic dermatitis.
Administration : You may take cetirizine with or without food.
The chewable tablet must be chewed before you swallow it.
Storage : Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
Mechanism of Action : Cetirizine hydrochloride, a human metabolite of hydroxyzine, is an antihistamine that selectively inhibits the effect of peripheral H(1)-receptors
Therapeutic : Antihistamine
Side Effects : Oral side effects may include fatigue, dry mouth, pharyngitis, dizziness headache, and abdominal pain
Contraindications : NA
Safety Advice / Warnings : This medicine may cause some people to become drowsy, sleepy, or less alert than they are normally. Make sure you know how you react to this medicine before you drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert.
Instruct patient to avoid using contact lenses if eyes are red. Drug should not be used to treat contact lens-related irritation
Patient to avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants during therapy
