METOPROLOL SUCCINATE ER 50 MG + HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 12.5 MG
Introduction : Metoprolol Succinate ER (extended release) 50 Mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 Mg is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It helps to control blood pressure when a single medication is not effective. It also helps to reduce chances of any future heart attack and stroke. Early treatment with this medicine improves chances of survival in patients of heart attack.
Indication : This combination of Metoprolol Succinate ER (extended release) 50 Mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 Mg medication is primarily prescribed for the treatment of hypertension in adults. It helps to lower blood pressure by reducing the heart rate and decreasing the volume of blood in the circulatory system.
In some cases, this combination medication may also be used for the management of heart failure. Metoprolol succinate, a beta-blocker, can help improve heart function and reduce symptoms of heart failure by slowing the heart rate and reducing the workload on the heart. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, can help reduce fluid buildup in the body, which is common in heart failure patients.
Administration : The dosage of Metoprolol Succinate ER (extended release) 50 Mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 Mg tablets may vary depending on individual patient factors and the severity of hypertension.
It is typically taken orally once daily, with or without food.
Swallow the extended-release capsule or tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, break, or chew it.
Storage : store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Mechanism of Action : Metoprolol Succinate (ER): It belongs to the class of medications known as beta-blockers. It works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in the body, such as adrenaline, which play a role in regulating heart rate and blood pressure. By blocking these chemicals, metoprolol reduces the heart rate and workload on the heart, thereby lowering blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide: This medication is a thiazide diuretic, which works by increasing the excretion of sodium and water from the body through the kidneys. This helps to reduce the volume of blood and decreases the workload on the heart, leading to a reduction in blood pressure.

Side Effects : Common side effects of this medication combination may include dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, diarrhea, and dry mouth.
Contraindications : "Evidence and/or expert consensus has demonstrated harmful infant effects when used during breastfeeding.
Avoid use of this drug during pregnancy and prescribe an alternative. Evidence has demonstrated fetal abnormalities or risks when used during pregnancy."
Safety Advice / Warnings : This medicine may cause changes in blood sugar levels. Also, this medicine may cover up the symptoms of low blood sugar (including fast heartbeat) and increase the risk for serious or prolonged hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Check with your doctor if you notice a change in your normal symptoms or a change in the results of your blood or urine sugar tests.
This medicine may cause some people to become less alert than they are normally. If this side effect occurs, do not drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert while taking metoprolol
Dizziness, lightheadedness, or even fainting may occur when you get up suddenly from a lying or sitting position. Getting up slowly may help lessen this problem. Also, lying down for a while may relieve the dizziness or lightheadedness.
Avoid consumtoipon of alcohol and smoking, it will increase the adverse the effects
