OLMESARTAN MEDOXOMIL 20 MG + AMLODIPINE 5 MG + HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 12.50 MG
Introduction : Olmesartan 20mg, amlodipine 5mg, and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg tablets is a combination of medicines that may be used alone or with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. Lowering blood pressure can reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes the blood vessels to tighten. Olmesartan relaxes the blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. A lower blood pressure will increase the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It affects the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. Amlodipine relaxes the blood vessels and lowers blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill). It reduces the amount of water in the body by increasing the flow of urine. This helps lower blood pressure.
This medicine is available only with your doctors prescription.
Indication : Olmesartan 20mg, amlodipine 5mg, and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg tablets is primarily indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults. It is often prescribed for individuals whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy or who require combination therapy to achieve target blood pressure levels. By lowering blood pressure, this medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks, strokes, and other complications associated with hypertension.
Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: In addition to lowering blood pressure, the combination of Olmesartan medoxomil, Amlodipine, and Hydrochlorothiazide may also provide cardiovascular protective effects. By improving vascular function and reducing blood pressure, this medication helps lower the risk of cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction (heart attack), stroke, and heart failure. It may be particularly beneficial for patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease or those with additional risk factors such as diabetes or chronic kidney disease.
