S-AMLODIPINE 2.5 MG
Introduction : S-Amlodipine 2.5 Mg tablet, like its racemic counterpart Amlodipine, is primarily prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain) due to coronary artery disease.
Indication : S-Amlodipine 2.5 Mg tablet, belongs to a class of medicines known as a calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily around your body. This means that more oxygen gets to your heart and reduces the risk of getting chest pain (angina). This medicine should not be used to treat chest pain which is already happening. It is used to prevent or reduce the frequency of angina attacks.
Administration : S-Amlodipine tablets are administered orally with or without food, as directed by the healthcare provider.
Storage : Store the medicine at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Mechanism of Action : S-Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It works by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac muscle cells during depolarization. By blocking calcium channels, S-Amlodipine causes vasodilation of peripheral arteries, resulting in reduced peripheral vascular resistance and decreased blood pressure. It also dilates coronary arteries, improving blood flow to the heart and reducing the frequency and severity of angina episodes.

Contraindications : Avoid use of this drug during pregnancy. .
Safety Advice / Warnings : Abrupt discontinuation of S-Amlodipine may lead to rebound hypertension. Therefore, gradual dose reduction may be required when discontinuing treatment.
Use with caution in elderly patients and patients with renal impairment.
