CLOTRIMAZOLE 1 % W/W + IODOCHLOROHYDROXYQUINOLINE 1 % W/W + TOLNAFATE 1 % W/W + GENTAMYCIN 0.1 % W/W + CLOBETASOL 0.05 % W/W + CHLOROCRESOL 0.1 % W/W CREAM

Introduction :

Clotrimazole 1% w/w: Clotrimazole is an antifungal medication used to treat various fungal infections of the skin, including athletes foot, jock itch, and ringworm. It works by inhibiting the growth and reproduction of fungi, thereby eliminating the infection. Iodochlorohydroxyquinoline 1% w/w: Iodochlorohydroxyquinoline is an antifungal and antibacterial agent. It is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and nails, as well as bacterial skin infections. It works by disrupting the cell membrane of fungi and bacteria, leading to their death. Tolnaftate 1% w/w: Tolnaftate is another antifungal medication used to treat fungal infections such as athletes foot, jock itch, and ringworm. It works by preventing the growth of fungi on the skin. Gentamicin 0.1% w/w: Gentamicin is an antibiotic medication used to treat bacterial infections of the skin. It works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and is effective against a wide range of bacteria. Clobetasol 0.05% w/w: Clobetasol is a high-potency corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation and itching associated with various skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. It works by suppressing the immune response and reducing inflammation. Chlorocresol 0.1% w/w: Chlorocresol is a preservative commonly used in topical medications to prevent microbial contamination.

Mechanism of Action :

Clotrimazole: It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption in ergosterol synthesis leads to alterations in membrane permeability and ultimately results in fungal cell death. Iodochlorohydroxyquinoline: It disrupts the cell membrane integrity of fungi and bacteria, leading to their death. It interferes with various cellular processes essential for the survival of these microorganisms. Tolnaftate: It works by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, which is involved in the synthesis of ergosterol in fungal cell membranes. By disrupting ergosterol synthesis, tolnaftate impairs fungal cell membrane integrity and function, ultimately leading to fungal cell death. Gentamicin: It works by binding to the bacterial ribosome and inhibiting protein synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. Gentamicin is effective against a wide range of Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria. Clobetasol: Clobetasol suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, inhibits the migration of inflammatory cells, and reduces the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby alleviating inflammation, itching, redness, and swelling associated with inflammatory skin conditions. Chlorocresol: It helps prevent microbial contamination of the cream formulation, thereby ensuring its stability and efficacy throughout its shelf life.

Therapeutic :

Anti Fungal
