FEBUXOSTAT 40 MG

Introduction :

Febuxostat 40mg tablet is used to lower hyperuricemia (high uric acid in the blood) in patients with gout who have been treated with allopurinol that did not work well or cannot be treated with allopurinol. This medicine is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. It works by causing less uric acid to be produced by the body. This medicine is available only with your doctors prescription.

Indication :

Febuxostat 40mg tablet is used to lower uric acid levels in people with gout. Febuxostat works by reducing the amount of uric acid made by the body. An increased uric acid level can cause gout.

Administration :

You may take this medicine with or without food. It may also be taken with an antacid. Take this medicine only as directed by your doctor. Do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered.

Storage :

Store the medicine at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light

Mechanism of Action :

Febuxostat is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor which acts by decreasing serum uric acid

Side Effects :

Side effects may include nausea, rash, and arthralgia

Contraindications :

Avoid use of this drug during pregnancy and prescribe an alternative. Evidence has demonstrated fetal abnormalities or risks when used during pregnancy.

Check with your doctor right away if you have pain or tenderness in the upper stomach, pale stools, dark urine, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, or yellow eyes or skin.
