Mechanism of Carbimazole 20 Mg Tablet
Carbimazole is converted into methimazole, which inhibits the enzyme thyroid peroxidase in the thyroid gland. This prevents iodine oxidation and incorporation into thyroglobulin, reducing the synthesis of thyroid hormones T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine). Lower thyroid hormone production helps control symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
