TENELIGLIPTIN 20 MG + METFORMIN HYDROCHLORIDE 500 MG ER

Below are the product's comprehensive details, including its indications, administration, storage, side effects, safety advice, references, mechanism of action, and therapeutic uses.

Teneligliptin 20mg + Metformin 500mg ER (extended release) combination tablet is prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It helps control blood sugar levels by increasing insulin release from the pancreas and reducing glucose production by the liver, ultimately improving glycemic control. Teneligliptin 20mg + Metformin 500mg ER tablets are used as an adjunct to diet and exercise when these measures alone are insufficient to control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The combination therapy provides additional glycemic control beyond what can be achieved with lifestyle modifications alone.

Typically, one tablet is taken orally with meals once or twice daily, as prescribed by the healthcare provider. Swallow the extended release tablet whole. Do not break, crush, or chew it. If you are taking the extended-release tablets, part of the tablet may pass into your stool after your body has absorbed the medicine. This is normal and nothing to worry about. Do not crush, chew, or divide extended-release tablet.

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep from freezing. Keep out of the reach of children.

may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, headache, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

"Avoid use of this drug during pregnancy and prescribe an alternative. Evidence has demonstrated fetal abnormalities or risks when used during pregnancy. Advise women of childbearing potential of fetal risk. Acute or chronic metabolic acidosis including diabetic ketoacidosis Severe renal impairment.

This medicine may cause serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, angioedema, or certain skin conditions. It is very important that your doctor check your progress at regular visits to make sure that this medicine is working properly and to decide if you should continue to take it. This medicine may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). This is more common when this medicine is taken together with certain medicines. Low blood sugar must be treated before it causes you to pass out (unconsciousness). Talk to your doctor about the best way to treat low blood sugar. Avoid alcohol and tobaccco consumption while taking this medicnes.

Teneligliptin Hydrobromide Hydrate [Prescribing Information]. Mumbai, India: Makers Laboratories Ltd. Kishimoto M. Teneligliptin: A DPP-4 inhibitor for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Diabetes Metab Syndr Obes. 2013;6:187-95."" Product Information: GLUCOPHAGE(R) oral tablets, metformin HCl oral tablets. Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (per FDA), Princeton, NJ, 2017.

Teneligliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the action of the enzyme DPP-4, which leads to increased levels of incretin hormones (such as GLP-1 and GIP). These incretins increase insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and decrease glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells, thereby lowering blood sugar levels. Metformin belongs to the biguanide class of medications. It works by decreasing glucose production by the liver, decreasing intestinal glucose absorption, and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.
