DISODIUM HYDROGEN CITRATE 1.37 G/5 ML

This medication is commonly used to alkalinize urine and provide symptomatic relief in conditions associated with urinary acidity. It may be prescribed for: Burning urination (dysuria) associated with urinary tract infections, Urinary tract irritation or cystitis, Prevention and management of uric acid and cystine kidney stones

Take as directed by the physician. Shake the bottle well before use. Dilute the prescribed dose in a glass of water before taking. Usually taken after meals to reduce gastric irritation.

Store below 25–30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.

The most common side effect of this medicine is stomach pain. It may also cause Nausea Vomiting, Abdominal discomfort,Flatulence & diarrhea.

Do not use if: Severe kidney impairment Hypernatremia or sodium-restricted conditions Metabolic or respiratory alkalosis

Use with caution in patients with kidney or heart disease. Excessive use may lead to electrolyte imbalance or alkalosis. Monitor urinary pH if used for kidney stone prevention. Maintain adequate fluid intake during therapy. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if prescribed.

Disodium hydrogen citrate is metabolized to bicarbonate, increasing systemic and urinary pH. Urinary alkalinization enhances solubility of uric acid and cystine, reduces urinary acidity, and decreases irritation of the urinary tract mucosa.
