Hyperkalemia (high potassium in the blood) may occur while you are using this medicine. Check with your doctor right away if you have the following symptoms: stomach pain, confusion, difficulty with breathing, irregular heartbeat, nausea or vomiting, nervousness, numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips, or weakness or heaviness of the legs. Spironolactone may worsen kidney function in patients with low to no salt in their body or in those who take other blood pressure medicines . This medicine may also cause electrolyte imbalances (including low sodium, magnesium, and calcium in the blood, hyperchloremic alkalosis) and an increase in your uric acid and blood sugar levels. Avoid concurrent use of potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes, as it may increase the risk of hyperkalemia. Advise patient to use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and avoid tanning beds as drug may cause photosensitivity.

Frusemide: It is a loop diuretic that works by inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the ascending loop of Henle in the kidneys, leading to increased urine production and excretion of water, sodium, chloride, and other electrolytes. Spironolactone: It is a potassium-sparing diuretic that works by antagonizing the effects of aldosterone, a hormone that promotes sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion in the distal tubules of the kidneys. Spironolactone promotes diuresis while conserving potassium, thereby preventing hypokalemia.
