Indication of Glimepiride 2 Mg +metformin Hcl 850 Mg Sr Tablet
Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. Patients inadequately controlled with diet, exercise, or single-agent antidiabetic therapy. May be used as part of combination therapy under medical supervision.
How To Use of Glimepiride 2 Mg +metformin Hcl 850 Mg Sr Tablet
Take the tablet exactly as prescribed by your physician. Usually taken once daily with the main meal or as directed. Swallow the sustained-release tablet whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet. Take with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects and minimize the risk of hypoglycemia. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not take a double dose.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus. Diabetic ketoacidosis or diabetic coma. Severe renal impairment (eGFR below the recommended threshold). Acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including lactic acidosis. Severe hepatic impairment.

Monitor blood glucose and HbA1c regularly. Always take the medicine with meals. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption due to the increased risk of lactic acidosis and hypoglycemia. Kidney function should be evaluated before starting treatment and monitored periodically.

Glimepiride: Stimulates insulin secretion by binding to sulfonylurea receptors (SUR1) on pancreatic beta cells, resulting in closure of ATP-sensitive potassium channels, membrane depolarization, calcium influx, and insulin release. Metformin Hydrochloride SR: Reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal glucose absorption, and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity without stimulating insulin secretion. The sustained-release formulation provides prolonged glucose-lowering action with improved gastrointestinal tolerability.
