Mechanism of Minoxidil 5 Mg Tablet
Minoxidil is a direct-acting peripheral arteriolar vasodilator. Its active metabolite, minoxidil sulfate, opens ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels in vascular smooth muscle cells, causing membrane hyperpolarization and relaxation of arteriolar smooth muscle. This reduces peripheral vascular resistance, lowers blood pressure, and improves blood flow. The mechanism responsible for promoting hair growth is not fully understood but is believed to involve improved blood supply to hair follicles and prolongation of the hair growth (anagen) phase.
