ZOSTER CREAM Topical acyclovir is commonly used for localized herpes infections affecting the skin or lips.Acyclovir topical preparations may be prescribed for: Herpes simplex infections of the skin Cold sores (herpes labialis) Genital herpes (external lesions) Recurrent herpes simplex infections affecting the lips or face

Clean and dry the affected area before application. Apply a thin layer of the cream or ointment to the affected area as directed by the physician. Usually applied daily at regular intervals, Use as directed by a physician. Wash hands before and after application.

Store in a cool, dry place below 25–30°C. Protect from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Topical side effects may include local application reactions such as a burning sensation, dryness (cream), pruritus, or stinging

Use with caution in: Broken or severely irritated skin Application near eyes or mucous membranes

Avoid use of topical ointment or cream in the eye or inside the mouth or nose Advise patient to apply ointment with a finger cot or rubber glove to prevent transmission of virus For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mouth. Begin treatment as soon as symptoms appear for best results. Do not use for longer than recommended without medical advice. Avoid touching or scratching infected areas to prevent spreading the virus.
