Introduction :

Glipizide 5 Mg + Metformin 500 Mg tablet is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly when blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled by diet and exercise alone. It helps to lower blood sugar levels by addressing different aspects of glucose metabolism: Glipizide stimulates insulin release from the pancreas, thereby reducing blood sugar levels. Metformin decreases glucose production in the liver, improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, and reduces intestinal glucose absorption.

Indication :

Mechanism of Action :

Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, enhances peripheral glucose uptake and utilization, and decreases intestinal glucose absorption. GlipiZIDE is an oral hypoglycemic drug belonging to the sulfonylurea class. It acts by stimulating insulin secretion from functioning beta cells in the pancreas, especially in response to a meal.
