AZITHROMYCIN 250 MG
Introduction : Azithromycin 250mg is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is a macrolide-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.This medication will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually once daily with or without food. You may take this medication with food if stomach upset occurs. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
For the best effect, take Azithromycin 250mg antibiotic at evenly spaced times. To help you remember, take this medication at the same time(s) every day.
Indication : Azithromycin 250mg is indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate infections
Acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis in adults

Acute bacterial sinusitis in adults

Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections in adults

Urethritis and cervicitis in adults
?
Genital ulcer disease in men
?
Acute otitis media in pediatric patients (6 months of age and older)
?
Community-acquired pneumonia in adults and pediatric patients (6 months of age and older)
?
Pharyngitis/tonsillitis in adults and pediatric patients (2 years of age and older)
Administration : The tablets and immediate-release suspension can be taken with or without food
As directed by the physician
Storage : Store between 15 and 30 degrees C
Mechanism of Action : Azithromycin binds to the 23S rRNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible microorganisms, thus interfering with microbial protein synthesis
Side Effects : Treatment-related side effects that occurred with a frequency of 1% or less include:
dry mouth, esophagitis, gastroenteritis,
jaundice, dizziness, headache
Contraindications : Azithromycin 250mg should not be used in patients with pneumonia who are judged to be inappropriate for oral therapy because of moderate to severe illness or risk factors.
Safety Advice / Warnings : Patient using oral tablets and regular suspension to avoid concomitant use of aluminum or magnesium-containing antacids.
