Guaifenesin increases respiratory tract fluid secretion, facilitating expectoration. Phenylephrine is a selective α1-adrenergic receptor agonist that causes vasoconstriction in nasal mucosa, reducing edema and congestion. Chlorpheniramine competitively antagonizes H1 receptors, inhibiting histamine-mediated allergic responses, while menthol activates TRPM8 cold receptors producing a cooling sensation and mild antitussive effect.
